England versus Australia , first Test Day 3 of Ashes at Edgbaston: England 28/2 at stumps on rain spoiled day!
Ashes Edgbaston Test Day 3 highlights: Australia will be looking towards a healthy lead when they start again from their over-night score of 311/5* on Day 3 of the 1st Test against England at Birmingham's Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
Opener Usman Khawaja and wicketkeeper-player Alex Carey will continue from their overnight scores of 126 and 52 individually, with the partnership between them worth 91 up until this point. While Khawaja, who raised his fifteenth Test ton on Saturday, will focus on a maiden double century, Carey will expect to change over his 50 runs into what will be just his second Test ton.
The two sides however, will expect the rain gods stay away and don't spoil the play up at some random phase of the day. There is, all things considered, a chance for downpour and rainstorms in Birmingham and different locations of England on Sunday.
On a rain spoiled Day 3 of the Ashes first Test among England and Australia at Birmingham, the home side were struggling at 28 for 2 on Sunday in the wake of taking a seven-run first innings lead. England will continue on Day 4 with a lead of 35 on Day 4.
England began Day 2 of the first test of the Ashes 2023 quite well as Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes dismissed the Australian top 3 in quick succession. S.Broad gave the Aussies two big blows as he uprooted big names like David Warner for the fifteenth time in Test cricket and on the very next ball after dismissing world number 1 Test hitter Marnus Labuschagne for a duck to place Australia in a difficult situation.
At Lunch, the Aussies were in a challenging situation with 78/3. From that point, it was Travis Head and Usman Khawaja who kept Australia in the challenge as both left-handers finished their fifties until Moeen Ali caught Head with a blinder for 50 off 63.
